10 Thoughts Everyone Has in Their Twenties

Our early twenties seem to be the most challenging, rewarding and daunting years of them all.

We endeavour to 'find our selves' for lack of a less cringy saying and we grow in confidence hugely.
These are the years we grow up, leave home, start a career, find our 'person' (grey's anatomy terminology) and predominantly these are the years our lives really begin.

CRAP THAT'S SCARY!

Now I'm starting to think maybe I shouldn't be typing this, I feel I may tell myself a few home truths
-insert monkey emoji with hands over eyes -

Here's a ramble of 10 thoughts that often go through my head and I'm hoping they have yours too!

Here we go...

1 - Q: If I'm using wine to cook it's totally ok to have a glass too? 1 for the pasta sauce, 1 for me. Right?
A: Y e s !!!

2 - Q: Am I the only one that doesn't know how to do this adult thing?
A: No... we are all just muddling through the sea of rubbish that life throws at us and occasionally finding some gems and mainly pretending online we're living our dream life.

3 - Q: How long does it take for that girl on IG to look like that everyday?
A: Probably longer than you think & sleep is definitely better for your skin.

4 - Q: How am I meant to get a thigh gap, pay for a gym membership, live in the gym trying to work out and also have a social life including copious amount of instagram-able food and cocktails?
A: You are not! And who bloody cares?! Be fit, healthy and love your body for what it is and how intelligent it is keeping you alive everyday. If a thigh gap happens then great. But please, you don't need to make yourself unhappy to be 'happy' because that is not what a thigh gap or perfectly sculpted cheekbones will make you. Healthy is happy, a balanced life is happy, a balanced diet is a happy you inside and intern will reflect that in your body on the outside.

5 - Q: Can I do it?
A: Yes, if you really want something, if you have a genuine passion and fire in your belly for it. Then yes, you can do it. I can assure you when there is a will, there is a way. However, I'm not saying it will be easy and I am 100% not saying it will happen over night. What I am saying is with potentially blood, sweat and tears. It will happen. 1 thing though...
Don't. Give. Up.

6 - Q: How many cups of tea is too many cups of tea?
A: I don't actually have an answer for this one, there isn't too many cups of tea, that's not a thing. But if you've got a problem, I can assure you a deep breath, a cup of tea and a sit down will help. It will not fix the problem, but it will help.

7 - Q: Is it sad I prefer a night in over a crazy night out?
A: Sad? No. Sane? Yes. Nights in with your besties/partner are so much better than nights on the sticky dance floor (don't get me wrong, I love a boogy but just can't hack it every weekend anymore). And thats ok, because the people you chose to spend your time with these days are normally a select few so hearing what they have to say is actually nice.

8 - Q: Is it normal to live in my dressing gown when I'm not at work?
A: Um yes! That is the most valued item of clothing you should own- If you don't own one you need to, they're life changing- Why wouldn't I want to feel like I was being hugged constantly?

9 - Q: Is watching re-runs of Friends for hours on end unhealthy?
A: No and neither is quoting them wherever possible because Friends is the best American comedy series out there. Full Stop.

10 - Q: Should I be doing what everyone else is doing?
A: No, if all of your friends happen to be in a place in their lives where they are settling down and making babies then that's amazing for them but if you're not then that's amazing for you. Stop comparing yourself to everyone around you! You are you and that exactly what you're meant to be, if you're not sure right now what the future holds that totally ok. Social media may give you the impression all of your old school friends are on top of things. That is what they want you to think. Well done them. They I probably having the exact same thoughts about you. So no, you shouldn't be doing what everyone else is doing. You should do exactly what you want to be doing...so go and get that cuppa- I think we both have some thinking to do...

Let me know what other thoughts you've had a 1000 times that you think we've all had?
Let me know in the comments or catch up with me on insta.

Thats all for now beauties,

Easy like a Sunday morning...

Easy like a Sunday morning...

This sunday I spent chilling out and giving the house a little spruce up while Mr J rustled up a scrummy sunday dinner, bloody mary beef - a Jamie O recipe. As my fingers tap it's slowly cooking away and smells like absolute heaven! Slow cooked beef with mash potato and kale. The beef is slow cooked for 5 hours in a vodka and tomato sauce and my god it's good. Check my insta later as i'm sure i'll snap it for you guys.

Today I have the house a lovely clean... as per every weekend and lit some candles in our room and did my face slowly. I took my time enjoying applying it as it is my favourite thing to do while watching youtube video's. I've recently become totally addicted to the Sacconejolys youtube channel so the fact the upload daily is a W I N !

Today I want for a matte eyeshadow look and a subtle nude lip, really wearable everyday look. I created this look using the Urban Decay Naked pallet using Naked as a base lid colour and Buck blended through the crease line blended out. On my lips i'm using a Revlon lip butter in pink truffle, Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme mascara, Bourjois bronzer, Soap & Glory brow archery and H&M blusher in golden peach.

#OOTD - I'm wearing a ASOS button up aline skirt with a turtle neck ribbed fitted top from newlook and the world's comfiest and warm tights from Primark because it's still bloomin cold out!

How was do you spend your Sundays?

Side note:I've also entered the a competition hosted by Rimmel #londonlookuk and if you like my makeup look I would really appreciate it if you could follow the link and click on the crown, it's a fantastic competition, let me know if you've entered and i'll be sure to put a vote your way.

Welcome 2016...

W E L C O M E  2 0 1 6 ! ! !

Happy New Year to you all!

2015 gave me lots of ups, downs, opportunities, trials, tests and great memories and I already know 2016 is going to be a big one.

I already know 2016 has a tone of scarey moments and tests in store for me and my family, but with that in mind I've decided 2016 is going to be the time for me to make my own luck and start doing things for me, I am going to put the time into this blog, I am going to start my youtube channel and I am going to invest in my relationships. My friends, family and Mr J are my priority and I am going to strive to make them happy to entail make myself happy with them.

I also intend to carry on with my balanced lifestyle when it comes to food and exercise, this is in no way 'new year, new me' because I've got a few of those T-shirts from previous January's and they have a tendency to shrink - if you catch my drift.
The tail end of 2015 brought me yoga at home through Yoga with Adriene and her 30 days of Yoga, I absolutely love it. I can really notice if I haven't practised it for a few days, so my routine is to do a video before work 3-5 days a week (preferably 5 but it's not alwayssss doable...AKA me sleepy). It is a fantastic way to start the day, it takes away any stresses lingering from the previous day and also releases endorphins which in turn make you feel happy. Oh and the obvious plus, it's exercise which makes you toned, flexible and helps relieve muscle tension. WOOP!

My Goal for this year is happiness & hard work paying off!

I hope you're all with me in the challenge to kick 2015's ass and make 2016 a beautiful year, no matter what it throws at us. Insert bicep & lady with sassy arm up emoji's.

What are you're goals for 2016?
How're you going to make this a year you're proud of?
Let me know of any other Yoga channels you can recommend?
Let me know in the comments.

That's all for now beauties.

House to Home

October 20th marked a year of me living in the fine city of Norwich which I now call my home.

What a year it's been, we've made our house this beautiful place to live, we have a purdy little kitty and I'm in a job which I have made amazing friends through and don't dread getting up for, yeah it's not my life on aspirational job but it's nice for now, do the boring grown up stuff and still have the fun 20 something year olds are meant to have.

Life's pretty good right now.

When I moved in with Mr J our house was a small building site as the water tank had leaked while he was away on a work trip and caused a lot of damage to call of the floors and walls.
A year down the line we have managed to take the house and turn it into our lovely first home.

I will take lots of lovely shots of each room when they are all completely finished but for now I leave you with a few snippets of my favourite parts of our house, the parts I feel make it a home.

What we've done so far:
- Re-plastered all the walls and skimmed the ceilings once they were dry that is.
- Painted every room bar the bathroom (which is in working progress as I type).
- Stripped the floors in the upstairs bedrooms and reclaimed the original floorboards to a dark stained wood. We intend to do this down stairs too with the goal to get it done before christmas.
- Painted all the cupboards in our kitchen from a dated fake wood to a matte off white to create the feel of more space.
- Made our own furniture, inspo taken from a amazing website called Ikea Hackers which gave interesting idea's using affordable Ikea furniture  (and other bits and bobs) and turning them into one of a kind pieces. So far we have made a tv stand/cabinet out of Ikea kitchen cabinets and a coffee table from a old pallet. Check it out here.

So with winter knocking at the door and autumn sprinting past quicker than I can get out of bed okay so that's not very quick I feel it's time to get my boots on and kick around in some beautiful leaves or something along those lines.

So on that note I'll leave you with a beautiful picture of St John's College in Cambridge my visit a few weeks ago.

I know it's not topical to my home post but it is very pretty.

That's all for now beauties.
